Personal  History

(Dyeing Artist)

1982   MFA from Kyoto City University of Arts, Graduate School of Art

1997  the Best Young Artist Award by City of Kyoto

While publicly presenting  her “Dyeing”artworks,  Yahata engages  herself  with  a number  of products and public art in the field of  "textile designs"  and is currently active as a Professor at the Kyoto University of Art and Design.
The recent major solo exhibitions:

"FLOWERS" "DREAMS", "HEAVEN", "Kaleidoscopic Yuzen"at Imura Art Gallery Kyoto, "GARDEN" in Takashimaya Nihonbashi, "Celebration of  Yahata Harumi Craft Arts Tohyohkan"in the Craft Art Gallery,Ohara Museum of Art .


The public collections at:

Crafts Gallery of Tokyo National Museum of Modern Arts, the National Museum of Art Osaka, The Museum of Kyoto, Kyoto City University of Arts, Kyoto University of Art and Design, Museé de Somé Seiryu.


Yahata presents a  wide range of work  with no limits, from  traditionals such as screens, sliding doors or kimonos, to contemporaries  such as T-shirts,  bags, or scarves among others.

Her computer-processed digital panels are with no doubt the tradition based trendy textiles.
